In memory of Dana Work

For the 18 years that Dana and her husband served the Candies Creek Church family, Dana was a permanent fixture among the bed babies and toddlers — always her favorite. Her first love, of course, was her own children, but she easily transferred that same affection to children in general. Her talents included being the resident “baby-whisperer” in the CCBC nursery and designing the graphic for the church’s Capital Stewardship Campaign in the early 2000’s called “Let the Children Come.” The results of that campaign led to the construction of the Children’s Building and the Student Building. Her talents were also put to use on the exploratory team and the initial school board for the launching of Candies Creek Academy. Dana’s 12 years of experience in special education in Bradley County contributed greatly to CCA’s vision and commitment to offer families of special needs students an affordable option for Christian education. Following her and Jamie’s ministry at Candies Creek Church and the start-up of the Academy, she signed up as an example of a “School for the Nations”. Her devotion to both education and to children became the launching pad and the basis by which she and her husband could live and work as missionaries in the Middle East for the final three years of her much-too-short life. Dana’s lifelong ambition was to influence and impact children toward Christ through education -- be that public, private, home-school, or Christian school. Her heart and ambition was to see children come to Jesus.
